Wolverines can't rattle Raccoons

Your Wakeland Wolverines dropped their third district game against the Frisco Raccoons this past Tuesday night by a score of 67-41. The Wolverines inability to put the ball in the basket left them with only eleven points in the first half while the Raccoons were able to score double digits in each quarter of play. Head Coach Brent Benningfield commented in a post-game press conference, "when you struggle shooting the ball against a team that has the capability to score whenever they want, you better find another way to win, but unfortanutely that didn't happen!" Noah Westerfield led the Wolverines with 11 points and Zol Singleton added 9, while Vashun Lusk pulled down 9 rebounds. This puts Wakeland's overall record at 11-12, with a 3-3 record in District 9-4A. The loss makes this Friday nights game against Newman Smith even that much important as the Wolverines need to win to stay towards the top for play-off contention. The Varsity tips off at 8pm at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, and will be videotaped on Time Warner Cable for the Texas Channel on later date and time. As soon as we know the date and time of this playback, we will let you know!
